We're here to help answer some of the most common questions you might have about CBD like what it is, what are the effects of using it, and if it's legal.
Is CBD legal?
The U.S. Hemp Roundtable has an interactive map of the United States (link below) where you can find Hemp's legal status in each state.
What is CBD?
First things first — CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not create feelings of euphoria (high).
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a promising phytocannabinoid found in cannabis (agricultural hemp). It has been recognized for its benefits on human and animal health and is capable of affecting nearly every biological process via the endocannabinoid system (ECS).
Not to be confused with THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which is also found in cannabis. CBD will not get you high. PlusCBD Oil made a great video explaining the differences between CBD and THC; watch the video here.
Where does CBD come from?
CBD is extracted from cannabis (agricultural hemp) through one of two processes; whole plant extraction and isolate extraction.
Whole Plant Extraction - Simply put, the CBD is extracted from the entire plant; leaves, seeds, and resins. It's believed that using the whole plant will yield a broad spectrum of cannabinoids along with flavonoids, terpenes, and fatty acids. The goal of yielding a broad spectrum is to help stimulate the endocannabinoid system (ECS) through the Entourage Effect.
Isolate Extraction - This process will yield CBD in its purest form. After the CBD is extracted from the cannabis, it must undergo a purifying process. The resulting product will be pure CBD powder; everything else from the plant has been removed.
What is the Entourage Effect?
The Entourage Effect results from the combined consumption of the cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, and fatty acids found in cannabis and Broad or Full Spectrum / Whole Plant Extract CBD Oils. The combined consumption creates synergistic effects that would otherwise not be felt if you were to take any of the components of cannabis individually.
What are the effects of using CBD?
CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not create feelings of euphoria (high).
Unlike the FDA-approved CBD drug product, unapproved CBD products, which could include cosmetics, foods, products marketed as dietary supplements, and any other product (other than Epidiolex) making therapeutic claims, have not been subject to FDA evaluation regarding whether they are effective to treat a particular disease or have other effects that may be claimed. In addition, they have not been evaluated by the FDA to determine what the proper dosage is, how they could interact with other drugs or foods, or whether they have dangerous side effects or other safety concerns.
